1 Contemplated reforms of the U.S. presidential election Abstract This diploma thesis is dedicated to the U.S. presidential election, specifically the greatest attention is paid to the electoral system called the electoral college which is used during the election. The text of my thesis relates to the US presidential election which is generally a very extensive topic therefore it is not possible to analyze in detail all the individual aspects of the process and thus provide a complete thorough analysis within this thesis. As a result of this, my aim is to briefly present the historical development of the electoral college along with its current functioning during the election process of the President of the United States. Subsequently, I am going to focus closely on potential reforms of the presidential elections that could significantly contribute to the improvement of the entire process of selecting (electing) the president of the United States. This thesis is divided into three consecutive parts, each part is then divided into several individual chapters. System of proportional representation in the Czech Republic and its critique Abstract The diploma thesis "System of proportional representation in the Czech Republic and its critique" deals with the proportional representation in the Czech Republic, particularly its most criticized aspects. The purpose of this paper is to analyse this system, its characteristics, forms and reforms under the Czech conditions. The first chapter defines proportional representation and describes its constituent elements - a legal threshold, electoral formulas (quotas and divisors), electoral districts and tiers and preference votes. Chapter Two is concerned with four specific forms of this system applied in the Czech Republic. It describes elections to the Chamber of Deputies, local elections, elections to the regional assemblies and European elections. The third chapter outlines the problems of Czech electoral reforms - specifically the big reform of elections to the Chamber of Deputies from 2000 and the case of Prague elections in 2010 which both had to be brought to the Constitutional Court. Voters'registration and its effect on turnout

The right to vote is one of the fundamental rights of citizens in democratic countries. In the United States, however, this action is preceded by the obligation to register. Election registrations are still seen as a limiting element of electoral law. The aim of this work is to find out how the registration was influenced in the past and what influenced the number of registered citizens and voter participation in the presidential elections in 2016. The first part deals with federal electoral registration reforms and looks at the current situation. The second part consists of a research in which the relationship determination is utilized by the Pearson correlation coefficient. The work concludes that the ratio of registered age to eligible voters has not increased, although the demographic curve continues to rise. In the case of factors that may affect the number of registered, the direct relationship has not been established. On the contrary, a direct correlation has been shown in the case of the same factors with the turnout in the presidential election.

Parliamentary election in Venezuela 2010

In parliamentary election in September 2010 Chavez's United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) obtained almost the same number of votes as the opposition's Coalition for Democratic Unity (MUD), however PSUV got 32 seats more than the opposition. Through this significant difference many publicists from all over the world considered MUD as a winner of the election. This bachelor thesis is analyzing the election and tries to bring the answer to two questions - what is the reason for such a big difference between obtained seats while the number of votes has been almost the same and who is the real winner of this election. Apart of this the bachelor thesis also focuses on the development of Venezuela in the last decades and on electoral systems in general.
